Meet one of our longest staying avian-residents, Billy the Yellow-Naped Parrot! Billy arrived at Popcorn Park back in the 90’s, after spending his early days as an office bird at another facility. Though he enjoyed his time as an office bird, they recognized how important it was that Billy receives enough socialization, enrichment, and nutrition. It was decided that Billy would have the expert care he needed at Popcorn Park and enjoy the company of our fellow parrots and macaws.
Billy has found great company amongst our staff and especially with his neighbor Buddy. Buddy is our sweet Yellow Crowned Parrot and is also a part of our Wildlife Club! Ever since Buddy arrived next to Billy, he has fallen head over heels for her! Now, Billy always sits on the side of his enclosure nearest to Buddy and has become very protective of his beloved.
Billy loves to talk all day long, whether it’s to Buddy, his caretakers, or even to his newspaper. He is by far our chattiest bird and can quickly repeat words or sounds he hears; his favorite is mimicking a siren. Every summer, Billy goes out to the Refuge to chat with visitors and show off his impressive vocalizations!
