Cleopatra, a Rüppell’s Dessert Fox, came to Popcorn Park all the way from Kuwait after an encounter with a pack of dogs left her badly injured. Despite a veterinarian’s efforts to save her leg, it had to be amputated, making it impossible for her to survive in the wild. She was taken in by K’s Path, an animal shelter in Kuwait, before being placed in our care in 2013 with the help of Merritt Clifton of Animal People in New York.
Rüppell’s foxes are well adapted to desert life, with thick fur on their footpads that help them move across hot sand and large ears that regulate body temperature. Though far from her native habitat, Cleopatra is thriving in the safety of Popcorn Park, where she enjoys exploring her space and keeping a close eye on the world around her.
Cleo has a calm and independent nature, often seen sniffing the fresh air or basking in a warm patch of morning sun. She spends her days investigating her habitat, burrowing into soft bedding, and listening to the sounds of the Refuge. While she prefers a quiet routine, she is always aware of what’s happening around her and takes comfort in the familiar faces of her caretakers.
With your support, Cleopatra will continue to enjoy a peaceful and enriching life. Sponsoring Cleo helps provide her with the best care, nutritious meals, and a secure environment where she can thrive. Please consider becoming her sponsor today!
