Curveball is a stunning hybrid red fox who joined Popcorn Park in July 2022 after a difficult start to life. He was found abandoned in a parking lot outside a zoo in western Pennsylvania, small, young, and unusually tame for a wild fox. It’s suspected that he had been sold as a pet, much like our silver fox, Kit. Unfortunately, foxes are not domesticated animals, and their natural behaviors of digging, marking, and nocturnal activity, make them very difficult to keep as pets. Because Curveball was raised by humans at a young age, he would be unable to survive on his own in the wild. We were happy to step in and provide him with a permanent, safe home!
Now living in the Refuge alongside our fellow resident foxes, Kit and Kasper, Curveball has become a playful and energetic member of the family. He has quickly adapted to his new surroundings, where he is provided with plenty of enrichment to engage his sharp mind and natural instincts. One of his favorite activities is foraging for treats like superworms hidden in mats, which encourages him to use his natural behaviors like digging and searching for food.
Curveball’s beautiful white coat makes him impossible to miss! He and Kit especially enjoy their time together, playing and following each other around the yard. It's clear that he’s found a place where he belongs, and with your support, we can continue providing him with the best care possible.
Sponsoring Curveball helps ensure that he receives the proper diet, care, and enrichment he needs to thrive. It also supports our mission of educating the public about the challenges wildlife face in the pet trade. Curveball’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving wildlife and spreading awareness about the dangers of keeping wild animals as pets.
Sponsor Curveball today and help us continue to provide Curveball with the care and attention he deserves!
