My Story

Cranberry, Blueberry, & Cobbler (The Berries)

One fall day in 2017, we received a call from the Whitesbog Historic Village that there were 2 abandoned pot belly pigs running around, rooting and destroying the cranberries bog and blueberries fields on the 3,000 acres preservation. We offered our assistance and 2 days later US Fish and Wildlife captured and brought them to Popcorn Park.  We named the male Cranberry and the female Blueberry.  Unfortunately, Cranberry was wounded.  He was shot with an arrow through the front leg.  We performed surgery to remove what was left of the arrow and neutered Cranberry at the same time.  Luckily the arrow missed the bone and artery and the wound healed nicely.

While Cranberry was recovering, Blueberry was kept separately to prevent the possibility of more little piggies. Even after neutering, he would still be viable for up to 2 months. Surprise, but not really, Blueberry was already pregnant and 1 weeks after she arrived she gave birth. The hardships that they had faced while being on their own proved to be unfortunate as only one piglet survived. We welcomed Cobbler to the Berry Family that now resides all together where they can live safely and eat all the berries they want! We hope you sponsor them today and let them know how berry special they are.
