My Story

Cranberry, Blueberry, & Cobbler (The Berries)

When we got a call from Whitesbog Historic Village about two abandoned pot-bellied pigs causing a stir in the cranberry bogs and blueberry fields, we quickly jumped into action. With the help of U.S. Fish and Wildlife, the pair of pigs were safely captured and brought to Popcorn Park, where they were given the names Cranberry and Blueberry to honor the berry fields they had been roaming.

Upon arrival, we discovered that Cranberry had been injured—an arrow was lodged in his front leg. Our veterinary team carefully removed the remnants of the arrow and treated Cranberry’s wound. Fortunately, the arrow had missed major arteries and bone, and with attentive care, Cranberry began to heal well. Meanwhile, we kept Blueberry nearby but separate to ensure her safety while Cranberry recovered.

Just a week after arrival, Blueberry surprised us all by giving birth to a single piglet, whom we lovingly named Cobbler. The little family had faced many challenges before arriving here, but after receiving the care they needed, could now begin a new chapter together.

The Berries—Cranberry, Blueberry, and their little Cobbler—now live happily at Popcorn Park, enjoying the warmth of the sun and savoring the occasional berry treats that bring them so much joy.

Sponsoring Cranberry, Blueberry, and Cobbler through our Wildlife Club provides essential support for their care, from daily feedings and bedding to regular health checkups. Your sponsorship ensures that the Berry Family can continue to live their best life, free from harm and with all the love and attention they deserve. Thank you for helping us provide a safe haven for animals like the Berries, where they can thrive as part of our sanctuary family.
