Reptiles
Popcorn Park is home to 12 incredible tortoises, each with a unique story and personality. Our residents include Aldabra, Sulcata, Leopard, Russian, and Red-Footed tortoises—some of the longest-living and most fascinating reptiles in the world. Our tortoise pair Squirtle and Tortellini were confiscated by Fish and Wildlife after being improperly kept. Tortilla, on the other hand, was found wandering the streets, lost and vulnerable. Many others, like Tank and Rosie, were surrendered by owners who didn’t realize how much care and space tortoises truly need.
Now, they spend their days basking in the sun, digging in the dirt, and feasting on their favorite greens. Leo, Lenny, and Claude are best buds who share a habitat, always exploring their surroundings together. Meanwhile, Rosie and Tank enjoy each other’s company in their own space, often found soaking up the sun side by side. Some, like Leo, are curious and will investigate new things, while others, like Claude, take life at a slower pace. Each tortoise has its own quirks—some love a good shell scratch, while others are determined diggers, proving just how strong and intelligent these ancient reptiles can be!
Tortoises are lifelong companions, with some species living over a century. However, their long lifespans are just one part of what makes them such a major commitment. They require large enclosures with plenty of space to roam, specialized diets rich in leafy greens, and the right climate to keep them healthy. Many tortoises also need access to UV lighting to mimic natural sunlight, helping them process essential nutrients like calcium for strong shells and bones. Sadly, many people acquire tortoises without realizing the full extent of their needs, which is why so many end up in need of rescue.
At Popcorn Park, we provide these incredible reptiles with the specialized care they need to thrive, but we can’t do it without you. When you sponsor one of our tortoises, you’re supporting them all, ensuring they receive the care, nutrition, and space they need to live long, healthy lives. Could you be the hero they need? Please consider sponsoring our tortoises today!
