Aslan is an African Lion who lives with his sister, Savannah.  Born on June 6, 2014, Aslan and Savannah had found themselves living at several different Canadian Zoos throughout their lifetime. However, when the zoo they were living at announced its closure in April 2020, they found themselves in need of a new home once more.

Because no Canadian agency was able to adopt them permanently, Popcorn Park Animal Refuge agreed to rescue the siblings and began the tedious process of arranging their transport. Given the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic along with the intricacies of foreign travel, their rescue was not a simple one.  

Thankfully, the Granby Zoo in Canada was able to house and care for the pair of felines while arrangements could be made for their arrival and our friends from Tigers in America were able to assist us with transportation and long term care at Granby.
