My Story

Meet Iris

Introducing Iris, the newest (and possibly most fabulous) member of the Wildlife Club! Iris is a Eurasian Eagle Owl, the largest owl species in the world, known for their piercing eyes, powerful presence, and the ability to rotate their heads up to 270 degrees. As a female of the species, Iris is about 30% larger than her male counterparts, and she carries herself with that extra bit of confidence.

Iris comes to us from Florida, where she spent her early years working alongside an experienced wildlife educator at Harry Potter-themed events at Universal Studios. With her striking appearance, Iris helped introduce guests to the world of birds of prey, capturing the wonder and imagination of countless fans. Her poise and personality even landed her a cameo in a DJ Khaled album cover photo shoot, so yes, she’s literally a star.

Now nine years old, Iris is spending her retirement here at Popcorn Park to enjoy her golden years in peace and style. She’s already settling in beautifully to her fully transformed new home, located right next to our red-tailed hawk, Raz, who’s been watching his glamorous new neighbor with great interest.

True to form, Iris doesn’t shy away from attention. She spent her first day curiously observing visitors and has already made fast friends with our staff. Raised in captivity, she has no fear of people and seems to only view them as her adoring fans! With her sharp stare and even sharper personality, Iris knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to show it.

We’re thrilled to welcome this regal owl to the Refuge, and can’t wait to see her shine in her new chapter. Sponsor Iris today to help maintain her glamourous lifestyle, and receive updates about her new life at Popcorn Park!
