Max's Rescue Story:
Max was the largest of four Aldabra tortoises rescued from an illegal, neglectful home in the Highlands. The tortoises were being kept outside in a cramped area with no veterinary care or proper permits. After being contacted by officials, Popcorn Park stepped in to rescue them. Upon arrival, veterinary exams revealed upper respiratory infections, shell damage, and other health issues. With his kind and gentle personality, Max quickly bonded with our staff, and has happily called the Refuge home ever since. Now weighing over 400lbs, Max lives with our small resident Cavy, Chuck. The pair have become good friends, often sharing leafy salads, munching on grass, or snoozing together in the warm sunshine.
