Tess is a female snow macaque who came to Popcorn Park after outgrowing her previous life as an educational and outreach animal. Initially, Tess would entertain and educate audiences while on a harness and leash, as part of an outreach program run by her original owner. However, as Tess matured, she began to assert herself and challenge her owner, striving to become the alpha female. This shift made it difficult for Tess to continue participating in her previous role, and eventually, she was confined to her enclosure. This change seemed to frustrate her even more, so her owner reached out to Popcorn Park, and we were happy to give Tess the space and care she needed.

Now, Tess enjoys a much more comfortable life in her own spacious indoor and outdoor area. She loves the attention of our staff and visitors, often calling them over with her eyes and a soft grunt. Once you’re in her line of sight, she’ll eagerly reach out to groom you, making it hard to resist spending time with her. Tess’s grooming sessions are a true sign of affection, and once she starts, she won’t let you go easily! If you walk by without acknowledging her, she will certainly make her presence known, often with a loud and persistent scream until she has your attention.

Tess’s playful nature and sweet personality shine through every day. She loves greeting visitors of all ages, and she is always happy to receive some extra attention. Her diet here at Popcorn Park is carefully curated to meet her needs, and she enjoys a variety of foods. Some of her favorites include fruits like grapes and oranges, and she never misses a chance to enjoy her monkey biscuits. Tess definitely has a sweet tooth, and she loves indulging in a couple of small marshmallows during her meals, though we only give her a small portion to satisfy her cravings.
