South, along with her twin brother North, arrived at Popcorn Park in early 2016 after a dramatic rescue of their parents on the Garden State Parkway. Two sheep, later named Reeba and Sheeba, were first spotted wandering the highway, and after some quick thinking by our AHS Animal Control Officers, they were safely brought to our Tinton Falls shelter. Their mother, Reeba, soon after being rescued gave birth to two sheep, North and South. Reeba, Sheeba, and their two lambs were brought to Popcorn Park together. The family quickly became a tight-knit group, and South and North’s playful, carefree personalities made them a joy to be around.
South has always been the more curious of the two. While North is a bit more laid-back, South loves exploring and getting into a little mischief. She’s often seen sniffing around new areas, wagging her tail and looking for a snack or a new friend to interact with. Her adventurous spirit is balanced out by his gentle nature, she’s affectionate and loves spending time with her keepers, always up for a scratch behind the ears or a tasty treat.
Though South and North are inseparable, South’s playful side stands out in the herd. She’s the first to investigate new things, and her curiosity often leads to amusing moments. She loves grazing with her brother, but when she’s feeling particularly energetic, she’s known to run around the pasture with an extra spring in her step, much to the delight of everyone watching.
Sadly, Reeba and Sheeba have crossed the rainbow bridge. South has always had her brother by her side, and they continue to thrive together in the safety and comfort of Popcorn Park. Thanks to your support, South can enjoy her carefree days surrounded by the love and care she deserves. Your sponsorship helps provide the food, medical care, and attention she needs to live a happy, healthy life. Join us in giving South the best life possible!
