My Story

 North the Parkway Sheep

North and his twin brother South made their way to Popcorn Park in early 2016 after a dramatic rescue. The pair were first spotted wandering the Garden State Parkway, first on the southbound lanes, then a month later on the northbound side. After a clever rescue operation by our AHS Animal Control Officers, they were safely brought to our Tinton Falls shelter. There, it became clear that North’s mom, Reeba, was pregnant, and soon after, she gave birth to the two lambs, North and South, completing the family.

North has always been a laid-back, easygoing sheep. He’s close to his twin brother South, and the two are inseparable, often seen grazing together or just hanging out. While North’s personality is calm, he’s still playful and loves the occasional scratch behind the ears or a snack. He may not be the loudest in the herd, but his quiet presence and affectionate nature make him a staff favorite.

Sadly, over the years, both Reeba and Sheeba have crossed the rainbow bridge, but North has never been without company. His twin, South, is always by his side, and together, they share the comfort of their close-knit herd at Popcorn Park. North’s life is filled with daily moments of peace and joy, whether he’s enjoying a good meal or basking in the sun.

Your sponsorship of North helps provide him with everything he needs to live a happy, healthy life.
