Uno’s adventure started in South Toms River, where he was spotted wandering the streets, looking a little lost and a lot curious. Our Animal Control Officer quickly swooped in to rescue him, and it didn’t take long to realize this pig was no stranger to people—he was super friendly, which made us think he might have been someone’s pet. Whether he escaped or was released because his family couldn’t care for him anymore, Uno was ready for a fresh start.

At Popcorn Park, Uno found a new home in Pig Alley, where he could kick back and enjoy his days in the company of his new friends. He got his name “Uno” because of his signature white foot—he’s got one white hoof that sets him apart from the rest, and it’s something everyone loves to admire! Pigs like Uno are social, intelligent, and require more than just a simple pen. They need room to roam, lots of enrichment, and the right diet to stay healthy and happy. Thankfully, Uno gets all of that and more, and he’s loving life at the Refuge.

Since joining us, Uno has truly come into his own. He’s made himself at home, enjoying everything from his daily snacks to spending time with visitors who stop by to say hello. Pigs like Uno aren’t just adorable; they’re also pretty complex creatures. They thrive on mental stimulation and social connections, and we make sure Uno gets plenty of both. His days are full of exploration, play, and a lot of love from everyone who meets him.
