Seven is one of Popcorn Park’s most iconic and beloved residents! This sweet, stunning mare arrived here in 2003 at just 1.5 years old, along with her mother, Trudy, after an incredibly dire rescue. The two were discovered in Howell, New Jersey, in a heartbreaking situation—severely malnourished and living in desperate conditions. They were eating anything they could just to survive—stones, tree bark, dirt, and even the wood from their own fence. It was clear that these horses had endured unimaginable hardship, and they needed a safe place to heal.
Popcorn Park stepped in to give them a chance at a better life. We knew we couldn’t separate this mother-daughter duo after all they'd been through, so we agreed to take both of them in and ensure they would stay together forever. Seven was a filly at the time, and she had a unique white marking on her face that resembled the number 7—thus, she earned her name!
Since then, Seven has become the heart of Popcorn Park, greeting visitors from her pen right by the entrance with her calm and friendly demeanor. She loves watching the comings and goings around the park and has become a cherished part of the Popcorn Park family. Seven has a sweet and playful personality, often seen rolling in the snow or simply enjoying the sunshine.
Now a senior resident, Seven receives all the specialized medical care she needs to thrive. Her journey from that desperate situation to the joyful life she lives today is a testament to the love and support she receives from our incredible donors and sponsors. Seven has truly become a symbol of hope and healing here at Popcorn Park.
