My Story

Meet Raz

Raz is a stunning Red-Tailed Hawk, one of North America's most iconic birds of prey. Known for their sharp vision and powerful flight, Red-Tailed Hawks play a vital role in the ecosystem by helping control rodent populations. Unfortunately, Raz suffered an injury to her clavicle, which left her unable to fly. Thanks to a bird rescue group, she made her way to Popcorn Park, where we were able to give her a safe and comfortable home.

Though she can’t take flight like her wild counterparts, Raz’s spacious enclosure gives her plenty of room to move around. Her perches are strategically placed, allowing her to hop from one to another, reaching as high as 12 feet off the ground. From this perch, she has a perfect view of all that’s happening at Popcorn Park, where she enjoys the calm of her surroundings and the attention from our staff. While she may not be soaring through the sky, she still enjoys the simple pleasures of being a hawk, watching the world from her perch, taking in the sights and sounds of the park.

Caring for Raz involves a carefully planned diet and regular veterinary checkups to ensure she stays healthy and happy. Her care is an important part of our mission at Popcorn Park to provide safe and supportive environments for animals that can no longer live in the wild. And for those who want to help make a difference, sponsoring Raz is a wonderful way to provide the resources and care she needs to thrive.

By supporting Raz, you're helping us continue our work in wildlife conservation and giving Raz the opportunity to live a full, comfortable life. Your sponsorship ensures that she gets the specialized care she deserves, along with the enrichment that keeps her life interesting and enjoyable.
