My Story

Raz the Red-Tailed Hawk

Raz is a stunning Red-Tailed Hawk, one of North America's most iconic birds of prey. Known for their sharp vision and powerful flight, Red-Tailed Hawks play a vital role in the ecosystem by helping control rodent populations. Unfortunately, Raz suffered an injury to his clavicle, which left him unable to fly. Thanks to a bird rescue group, he made his way to Popcorn Park, where we were able to give him a safe and comfortable home.

Though he can’t take flight like his wild counterparts, Raz’s spacious enclosure gives him plenty of room to move around. His perches are strategically placed, allowing him to hop from one to another, reaching as high as 12 feet off the ground. From this perch, he has a perfect view of all that’s happening at Popcorn Park, where he enjoys the calm of his surroundings and the attention from our staff. While he may not be soaring through the sky, he still enjoys the simple pleasures of being a hawk—watching the world from his perch, taking in the sights and sounds of the park.

Caring for Raz involves a carefully planned diet and regular veterinary checkups to ensure he stays healthy and happy. His care is an important part of our mission at Popcorn Park to provide safe and supportive environments for animals that can no longer live in the wild. And for those who want to help make a difference, sponsoring Raz is a wonderful way to provide the resources and care he needs to thrive.

By supporting Raz, you're helping us continue our work in wildlife conservation and giving Raz the opportunity to live a full, comfortable life. Your sponsorship ensures that he gets the specialized care he deserves, along with the enrichment that keeps his life interesting and enjoyable.
