Meet Mickey! Born in January 2001, Mickey lived a good life with a loving owner for her first few years of life. Unfortunately, when her owner found a new significant other, Mickey made it clear that she did not enjoy sharing her attention and began to show some signs of aggression towards the new significant other. Though she was very loved, her owner was forced to make the difficult decision whether to keep Mickey or her significant other and ultimately thought it best that Mickey find a new home.
Mickey's owner contacted Popcorn Park to see if we could take her and, of course, we were all too happy to welcome her to the Refuge! This beautiful African Grey Parrot arrived just after Christmas in 2004 and has happily called Popcorn Park home ever since.
African Grey Parrots are known to be highly intelligent and sociable and Mickey is no exception. She is curious and inquisitive, not hesitating to make her opinions known to our staff. African Grey Parrots thrive when they have lots of opportunities to play and interact with their humans. It takes a good deal of care and mental stimulation to make sure that Mickey has a happy, full, and enriching life.
Our animal care staff provides Mickey with a variety of enrichment toys and activities to keep her engaged and Mickey clearly enjoys the attention! From music playing in our bird room to a variety of bird toys and materials to chew on, we make sure Mickey has a wide array of things to keep her busy. Mickey also loves munching on a variety of fruits and nuts, ensuring she receives all the essential vitamins and the well-balanced diet she needs to thrive.
Will you consider sponsoring our smart and sociable little lady? Mickey would love to find new friends and sponsors who will help her live her very best life here at Popcorn Park!
