Meet Strawberry! This beautiful 4-year-old purebred Bactrian Camel, born on March 3, 2020, resides in our barnyard.  Strawberry spent her early years on a farm in Pennsylvania, where she was deeply loved and well cared for. Unfortunately, she faced several health challenges that required special attention.

Smaller than the average camel, it was difficult for Strawberry to join the larger camel herd at the farm. She began losing weight and developed a heavy parasite load.  Despite being moved to a smaller field with more compatible farm animals like horses and goats, her health continued to decline.  Realizing that Strawberry needed specialized housing and could not return to live with their camel herd, Popcorn Park was called to assist.  

Strawberry arrived in May 2024, a bit hesitant but curious about her new surroundings. She is a sweet and inquisitive camel, gradually getting to know her new caretakers and farm friends. She was separated from the other animals until she completed her deworming protocol, but already formed a gentle friendship with our llamas, often munching on hay near the fence they shared.

Over the next few months, our dedicated team placed her on a special diet of nutritious grain, hay, and supplements to address her deficiencies. Comprehensive tests, including fecal exams and bloodwork, revealed anemia and other concerning markers. We closely monitored her condition and worked with our veterinarians to give her the best possible chance at recovery.
