My Story

Savannah

Savannah is an African Lioness who lives with her brother, Aslan. Born on June 6, 2014, Aslan and Savannah had found themselves living at several different Canadian Zoos throughout their lifetime. However, when the zoo they were living at announced its closure in April 2020, they found themselves in need of a new home once more.

Because no Canadian agency was able to adopt them permanently, Popcorn Park Animal Refuge agreed to rescue the siblings and began the tedious process of arranging their transport. Given the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic along with the intricacies of foreign travel, their rescue was not a simple one.

Thankfully, the Granby Zoo in Canada was able to house and care for the pair of felines while arrangements could be made for their arrival and our friends from Tigers in America were able to assist us with transportation and long term care at Granby.

Finally, after two years of preparation and planning, Aslan and Savannah were transported to Popcorn Park along with two other big cats on June 26, 2022.  The pair settled in to their new home nicely.  Aslan and Savannah are very social with the guests at the Refuge and love seeing all our visitors!  We have enjoyed seeing their regal personalities blossom as they settle in and establish new daily routines.

Popcorn Park is Savannah's 4th home in her life, and we are glad to provide her with a stable, lifelong home in our Refuge. Savannah would love for you welcome her to her new home as her sponsor!
