Fox Fares
We currently have five resident foxes at the refuge, all requiring a very diverse diet. In the wild foxes are expert hunters, catching rabbits, rodents, birds, and other small animals as sources of meat, but they are actually omnivores. Our foxes have a regular carnivore meal that they enjoy but also regularly dine on berries, fruits, and eggs, mimicking natural scavenging behaviors they would use in the wild. It costs us about $125 per week to feed our foxes, or approximately $6,500 per year!
